THB URUGUAY

We are a reinsurance consulting company founded in 2015. From our headquarters in Montevideo, Uruguay, we manage the best reinsurance solutions with international providers for our clients in Latin America.

In January 2022, we officially partnered with Amwins Global Risks – formerly THB London. Amwins Global Risks is the international brokerage arm of Amwins, one of the largest specialty insurance distributors in the United States.

This strategic alliance provides us with a broader platform for growth and allows us to develop and strengthen our services for our clients. It also allows us to be a part of and support the network of Amwins Global Risks partner companies, which in Latin America retain the THB brand.

We prioritise the quality of our service on the basis of certainty and professionalism.

Parametric<br />
Insurance
Parametric
Insurance
At THB Uruguay, we offer parametric insurance, also known as non-traditional or index-based insurance.  The most common policies are currently for agricultural risks such as frost or forest fires.  These events get measured by objective parameters or indexes related to the risk exposure (e.g., wind speed or millimeters of rain).  The insurance takes place if it complies with the parameters established in the policy.

Automatic Contracts
Automatic Contracts
Automatic contracts establish the framework within which the relationship between the reinsurer and insurer will develop. This contract enables the direct insurer to operate freely within agreed limits and provides advantages of operational agility and competitive ease.

Solid contracts provide insurers the capacity and possibility to accept operations with characteristics and amounts that they would otherwise not be able to handle. It also allows them to achieve intelligent risk management and distribution, better conditions, and more limits.

The automatic contract issued by Bordereau, specifies the risks accepted, the premium amount, and the claims incurred. This modality allows companies to retain ceded premiums and the possibility of using these amounts throughout the quarter.

Automatic contracts are also beneficial to the reinsurer because they hold a fixed volume of premium over a long period and reduce the administrative costs associated with facultative individual placements.
